Today is officially the last day of NaBloPoMo for November. I had good days and I had bad days, but I posted atleast once everyday and that's all that matters. I'm super proud of myself! For the month of December I'm not going to do NaBloPoMo, but I am going to continue posting. I'm hoping for 3/4 times a week, but if I can only get one post in than it's better than nothing. I may or may not have any readers and that's fine with me because I did this for myself. I proved to myself that I could sign up to do something everyday and actually come through with it.

I am having the hardest time finding a "sister" charm/bead for my sister's Christmas gift. That's all!

"Betcha didn’t know…

how to ice proof your car windows. Expecting frost overnight? Just fill a spray bottle with three parts vinegar to one part water and spray on your car windows at night. In the morning, they should be clear of the icy mess. How does it work? Vinegar contains acetic acid, which raises the melting point of water – preventing water from freezing. What to do if you wake up to an already frozen car? Just spray the mixture on your window and watch it melt."

Definitely trying this out this winter!

I'm thankful for every one in my life, past and present. I'm thankful for a roof over my head, food on the table, and clothes on my body. I'm thankful for having a job despite complaining about it day in and day out. I'm thankful for my education and having the opportunity to pursue higher education.

Happy Thanksgiving xo

I hate this time of year simply because I want to buy everything for everyone for Christmas and I realistically can't. I spent the time I came home from work til now looking for Christmas gifts and I think I have everyone covered, which is a huge relief!

Happy birthday to one of the most amazing people in my life: my best friend. This weekend was just what we needed but I'm so thankful I'm here another day!

Fire places are definitely one of my top five favorite things.

I'm heading out in a few for an amazing weekend in the mountains. Thank God for friends with wifi because I won't break NaBloPoMo! I might not have made many substantial posts but I'm proud of myself for actually committing to something and following through with it. The last thing I signed up for was the gym in January. I did zumba once that month, paid for another 5 months of membership, and finally closed it. The day I went in to cancel my membership was only my second time in there... Let's just say that joining a gym as my New Year's resolution is not happening next year unless I give it 100% and stick with it. I definitely could have saved myself $300/400 this year by not joining in the first place!

Totally baked this Chocolate Chip/Oreo/Brownie cake thingy today. I baked two, one 9x13 and one 8x8. The 9x13 will be coming with me this weekend where as the 8x8 is for here/work. I had a really small piece just now and I can definitely say it's different. I've never eaten all three of those things in one bite before lol. I feel like anything bigger than the piece I had might be way too much. At the same time, I'll definitely be having some this weekend but with ice cream. Ice cream makes everything amazing.

No pictures right now, I'm trying to tie up loose ends before I head to bed. I promise pictures either this weekend or after it's over.

So I need to document this because this has NEVER happened... As of Sunday, I am 99% packed for this weekend. The 1% consists of my make-up bag, a sweatshirt, and slippers. I'm the type of person who packs the night before or sometimes the morning of. I just can't actually get myself to pack ahead of time, but this Sunday I was cleaning and switching out winter and summer clothes so I figured I'd do it while I have my clothes all over the place. Let me say, it feels REALLY good to have basically everything packed and I feel relieved to know that I won't be going crazy tomorrow night or Friday morning considering I'll be busy baking tomorrow and Friday I have an hour between work and when I leave to shower and leave.

A Newbie's Guide to my Favorite Place AKA Where to Go if You Find Yourself in Ocean City, Maryland

BlogHer NaBloPoMo Prompt of the day:
Tuesday, November 15, 2011
Describe a favorite place. Focus on how that place affects your sense of taste, touch, sight, sound, or smell. (Guest Post by Adrienne McDonnell, author of The Doctor and the Diva)

Ocean City, MD (OCMD) is easily my most favorite place to be. You could find something to do every night of the week and never get bored! I know it sounds like I've been going there all my life, but in reality it'll be four years next summer. Within the past four years, I've created so many memories, met some cool people, and tried new things. As a side note, I'll be taking you through a typical week at the beach for me and showing you the things I've experienced. There is so much more to see and do that I haven't done already, but like I said this is my point of view.

When most people think of the beach they think of just that: water, sand, waves. When I think of the beach, I think of the food. I swear, the second you go on vacation the food you eat ALWAYS gets better. I love going places that don't have chain restaurants because you get to experience tastes you don't normally get to. Every time we go, we always go to the same restaurants and that works for us. This time around, we tried somewhere new to us called Dead Freddies. It was the last night of our vacation this past July and we wanted to go some where we hadn't been all week. I'm so glad we picked there because seriously it was hands down one of the coolest places to eat in OCMD. They had a play area for kids, the food and drink menu was huge, and everything was pirate themed! We made a mental note to add it to our list of places to eat next summer and I can't wait til we can go again. In addition to Dead Freddies, we always go to Bull on the Beach(atleast twice) and Big Peckers. Next summer, I'd like to try Macky's Bayside Bar & Grill and actually eating at Seacrets.

One final place we go to every single night, rain or no rain, is Dumser's Dairyland. They have the BEST ice cream in OCMD and it's obvious by the amount of people you see waiting in line. Their flavors are out of this world and there are so many toppings to choose from.

As for going out, we stick to one place: Seacrets! We can't go to the beach without making a trip there at least once. I love it there because it's like one giant beach bar covered in sand. During the day, you can lay/sit out on tubes and tables in the bay and spend the whole day doing it. At night, the place transforms into a night club. One of my favorite things to do is to watch the girls wearing heels try and walk in the sand. Other than Seacrets, we've spent nights drinking in our hotel room because when it comes down to it, it's much cheaper.

Writing this made me realize just how much I miss the beach and how much I LOVE OCMD. I've got a note in my phone already from this summer of things to do next summer and I can't wait to experience them. I thought I'd end this blog post here and continue it another time talking about the different things to do and see. One thing's for sure, I'd take a vacation to OCMD over going to some tropical island any day.

Mr. Big was always my favorite from day one.

Like I said last night, I was going to give curling my hair with socks a try. The video makes it look super easy and it really was easy to do. I think because my hair is thin and layered, it gave me more problems than I expected. First, tucking your hair into the sock is a bit difficult the first time and a few times the sock fell on the floor lol. Second, actually tucking it in the whole way down is sooo much easier once you get a rhythm going. Finally, I hate how inconsistent my hair is. The right side of my head I only had to do it once and it stayed and looked good. The left side took atleast 3/4 times before I got it tight and all tucked in. The video shows the woman doing it in a pony tail, but I chose to put my hair in pig tails because of it being short and layered which I think made it a bit harder because I was working with less hair. Also, my part isn't straight down the middle or to the side, it starts over the beginning of my right eyebrow and goes on an angle to the back of my head... sounds weird but it gets parted like that so I have more side bangs. Next time I try this, which will definitely be this week, I'm going to try doing it her way.

Now when I went to take the socks out of my hair it was definitely curly, but it wasn't a look I'd sport everyday. If I had longer, thicker hair I'd use this method often, but a curling iron or my straightener for curling my hair works just fine for me.

Two things:

First, I'm baking this sometime this week for my bffs birthday. I really wanted to go to a bakery and get cupcakes made but, I don't have time to actually try them and then decide which flavors to buy. Instead, this cake is going to combine everything she loves and that's what's most important to me. Plus, combining brownie/Oreos/chocolate chip cookies into one cake sounds like HEAVEN!

Second, since I'm off tomorrow I'm going to try curling my hair in a sock tonight. Seriously, this sounded so so crazy until I actually watched the video on how to do and it looks SO easy. I have long-layered THIN straight hair and it barely goes past my shoulders, but I'm hoping this works out. The woman in the video has beautiful long hair, I'm totally jealous of her!

I've got about 230 friends on Facebook, which is perfect for me because they're all family members, past/present friends, past/present coworkers, and people I met at school through the years. I know that on Sunday/Monday, anywhere between September and January, I'm going to see statuses about football. I know that around the first or second week of December and end of May/beginning of April, I'm going to see statuses about finals and graduating and Christmas/summer break. I know all summer long I'm going to see the same statuses about the beach, everyone working, and no one looking forward to the end of summer. I know around the holidays everyone posts the same statuses about wishing everyone a Merry Christmas or Happy Halloween. I know that when certain shows are on TV, I'm going to see repeating statuses about that show being on. I also know that when new movies/video games/songs are released, if you're into it then you're updating your Facebook status about it.

At times, these statuses get repetitive and I look forward to when the time passes and Facebook statuses go back to being updated with normal everyday stuff. What I will never understand is why there are people on Facebook who complain about seeing the same statuses over and over again. Like I said, I have 230 friends and yes, I see repeats but I expect that with that many friends. If you've got over 1000 friends, you've got no room to complain about repetitive statuses because of course you're going to see them! As stupid as this may sound, this irritates me to no end. These are the same people who post a handful of statuses a day and complain on each one of them and then try to tell people the should be more "original" when it comes to posting on Facebook. Its Facebook!! Anyone who's had Facebook for longer than a minute can see that its bound to happened, whether you have 5 friends or 1600 friends, you can't avoid it.

I know it's Facebook, but it gets really irritating day after day when you see the same handful of people complaining about other peoples status.

I pinned this on Pinterest the other day. This is genius! A wine cellar under the kitchen floor? Seriously!

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

I'm pretty proud of myself for actually posting seven days in a row, let alone even wanting to post. I find that it's really easy to write when I'm watching certain shows on tv, which sounds weird but it works for me.

A couple days ago I discovered this website called Pinterest. I've been obsessed since! I love all the pictures I find, all the DIY projects I find and the recipes I keep finding are incredible. I love baking and I love trying new things to bake, so my "baking" board is full of ideas that I can't wait to try. Of course there's an entire category for wedding related stuff which is not helping my current obsession with weddings.

Two blog posts in one day? How 'bout that! I've been trying to kill time before my usual Tuesday night shows, so I figured writing might take up a bit of time.

For a friends birthday, I decided to make wine glasses instead of buying them. We all LOVE the Lolita glasses, but I figured instead of spending $60 for glasses that are really cute and fun, they aren't exactly personalized to what I want. I was mainly looking for glasses with our names painted on them, but one of my friends has a very uncommon name so I figured I'd never find one for her. Instead, I looked up ways to do it myself and found that it's much easier than it may seem. My only issue with painting our names on was my lack of a steady hand.

After I baked on the paint, which confused the hell out of me, I hot glued gems on. The paint bottle instructions weren't very specific when it came to baking the paint and I found instructions that were different online. I went with the instructions I found online and they worked well. This was definitely a cheap project I'd use again in the future, maybe for bridesmaids or birthday/Christmas gifts.

I LOVE going to the dentist! Is anyone else with me???! I mean, I don't go every month or anything because my insurance obviously won't pay for that, but I really look forward going every six months. It's the one doctor appointment I don't mind making or going to. Apparently this is really weird. My friends don't understand why I like going so much. But, what's not to like about going to the dentist? I LOVE the feeling of clean teeth and I love knowing I don't have cavities, doesn't everyone??

I was SO excited yesterday for daylight savings time and it completely back fired on me. I was up every hour through the whole night and then I was up 20 minutes before my alarm even went off. Not happy...

Saturday, November 5, 2011

Today I discovered a little slice of heaven in a bottle: cupcake wine by Cupcake Vineyards.

I really have nothing else to say.

I lie. I've never been so excited for daylight savings time. Words cannot express how excited I am to sleep an extra hour tonight. Hopefully when I wake up at 5am tomorrow, I don't wake up tired.

Job searching. It's easily one of the most frustrating things to do. You find a job you think you'd be good for, you apply, you fill out pages and pages of questions, you take tests to see if you're compatible, and then you wait to hear back from the employer. Then you'll either get an interview or you won't. My problem right now is something I've had happen to me the last few times I've applied for a job. I get a phone call from the manager, of course it never comes while I'm at home so the entire time I'm working I'm wondering who called me and can't wait to clock out to listen to my voice mail. The second I finally listen to it, I get so excited and I start thinking about working there and how I'll tell my current employer that I'm leaving. After getting home and sitting down at my desk, I call the manager and find out that I did really well on the test and they really liked my application/resume. At this point, I feel like if I were reading a book this would be the climax of the story. I know that this phone call is going to go two ways: either they're going to tell me that the salary requirements I put down aren't what they would start people in that position and I'd be lucky to even get paid that much or that the salary I put down is very doable and that they'd like for me to come in for an interview. I'm still at the job I got sophomore year of college so you can imagine the option I keep getting. I don't think I'm asking too much, I've got student loans and a car loan to pay for, I know what I can and can't accept. At the same time, I feel like a real asshole turning down a job because I won't get paid what I know I need to get paid.

Don't get me wrong, I'm super thankful I have the job I do have because I know way too many people who are unemployed. But, I also know I didn't attend college for nothing and I plan on using my degree some day. For now, I guess I'll hope for the best. One of my goals this year was to get a new job, I guess it'll be a goal that carries over into next year.

Day two and I can't think of anything to blog about. I'm off to an awesome start! Actually, earlier today when I was separating gems into four sizes, that project will be unveiled when it's finished, I had millions of ideas running through my head. Then, I went to jot them down, but deleted my first post so I had to go back and rewrite it. By the end of it, I had lost every idea I thought of and never got them back. Story of my life...

I find myself becoming almost obsessed with researching certain things that don't really make sense to me. I am a single 25 yr old still living at home with my parents, but two things fascinate me: house hunting and wedding planning. Maybe it's my age or the fact that I feel like half my Facebook friends are married/buying a house/planning a wedding/having children and they're all around my age, but it makes me so happy to find affordable houses within 50 miles and browse a certain wedding website for ideas. I only stumbled upon this wedding website because I was looking up ways to bake paint onto glass for a birthday gift I'm currently working on. I guess when I'm ready for those stages in my life I'll have done enough research to know exactly what I want.

I started this blog three years ago (next month) and never really used it. Not that I didn't want to, but I didn't really have time to use it. It was my last semester of college and I thought with my free time, I'd use it to blog about job searching and making the transition into the "real world." Problem was, between spending most of my days in the library working on a senior Seminar project, job searching, and starting a sorority from the ground up, I ended up with no free time. So here I am, three years later. Since then a lot has happened, but the past is the past. This blog isn't going to be about the past, this blog is my future.

Every November I vow to participate in NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month, and yet I haven't written more than a few pages before losing complete interest. This year is going to be different. This month I'll be participating in NaBloPoMo, National Blog Posting Month. For the month of November I'll be posting atleast once a day everyday. I hope that attempting to make blog posts will be easier than trying to write chapters.

So this is post number one, although its November 2nd. Here's to a month of blogging and hoping that after this month is over I'll still be interested in updating.
